Adobe Photoshop: Image Adjustments Vs. Adjustment Layers

Adjustment Layers are awesome. They offer non-destructive editing AND the ability to go back to change it later. Lots of people even remap their keyboard shortcuts to call up the adjustment layers instead of the traditional image adjustments. But there are a few options available in Image > Adjustments that arent available as options as an adjustment layer.

Shadow/highlights: Lightens or darkens based on the surrounding pixels (local neighborhood). This is MUCH better than messing with Curves or Levels.

HDR Toning: Give you the same dialog box as the Merge to HDR Pro command. Create HDR like effects from your existing photo with 8-bit or 16-bit images. Or use it in 32-bit mode to tweak your HDR.
